Sunrise over Takshanuk Mountains just outside Haines Alaska. 

During most of my visit, Haines, Alaska, and the surrounding area, were covered by low, winter, clouds.  While driving to the Chilkat Eagle Preserve the clouds were high enough to produce a dramatic sunrise.  The sky turned a blazing orange over the snow covered Takshanuk Mountains rising almost vertically out of the frozen Chilkat River-an extraordinarily spectacular sight. I pulled up on the side of the road and made this stirring image before nature's early morning light show ended.
