Davidson Glacier Waterfall
Small waterfall on Davidson Glacier between Juneau and Skagway in Alaska.
After we dressed in wading gear and canoed out to the Davidson Glacier, a small tidewater glacier located just off the Lynn Canal between Juneau and Skagway, we actually walked on the glacier. This was no overblown helicopter ride to a five minute walk on an area of flat ice; we were walking on an actual glacier with small lakes and puddles, under ice stream, boulder sized chunks of dirty ice, ice caves and small deep blue waterfalls all very slowly sliding into a large lake- a real “ripper” of a trip. I made this image of the small waterfall on the Davidson Glacier because it created an interesting abstract pattern with the intense blue water in the center and the dirt covered ice blocks along the sides.
