Face of Viedma Glacier

Iceberg in front of the Viedma Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park in Patagonia, Argentina.

Tired from a long hike the previous day, I took a boat excursion to the Viedma Glacier in Los Glaciates National Park in Patagonia, Argentina.  The small tourist boat was able to get about 300’ from the Viedma Glacier’s face and maneuver around the many icebergs on the lake in front of the glacier.  Some of the icebergs had a deep crimson blue color, a characteristic of glacial ice, that contrasted with the more brown, dirty, color of the glacier’s face and aqua green color of Lago Viedma.  I made this image to highlight the graphic differences between the iceberg, the Viedma Glacier and the water.
