Sunrise over FitzRoy from Rio De Las Vueltas Canyon in Los Glaciares National Park in Patagonia, Argentina.

It was a short walk from the road up the unmarked trail to Rio De Las Vueltas Canyon in Las Glaciares National Park in Patagonia.  We set up in the dark waiting for the rising sun to illuminate FitzRoy, the highest  and most prominent peak in Patagonia.  What was unexpected was the wind rushing up from the canyon below.  It was brutal and became more intense the closer you walked to the edge of the canyon- which was necessary in order to frame the image correctly.  I hung my backpack on my tripod to stabilize it and made this image in a howling wind as the morning sunlight spread out over the horizon.
