Glacier’s Edge
An iceberg in front of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina.
The Perito Moreno Glacier, just outside the town of El Calafate in Patagonia, Argentina, is so large that its wall, which is more than 3 miles wide and about 240’ tall, is more serrated than flat- the Perito Moreno Glacier has lots of interesting edges. The lookouts, which extend up and down along the Perito Moreno Glacier’s wall, are so good you can get very close to the glacier without the need of a boat so you can study and linger at all the glaciers edges and other interesting features. I took this photograph at one of the Perito Moreno Glacier’s edges, in front of an iceberg that had recently calved and was drifting to shore.
